Thanks: Proud of kids, police officer

To the editor:

On a recent Monday, three children went to Obear Park in Beverly's Ryal Side, and upon their return they reported that vulgar graffiti has been sprayed on the children's amusement center. They were so upset that they looked up in the computer how to clean graffiti and the next day approached me to take them to the park so they could clean this up.

The children are Moira Legault (age 11) and Dillan (11) and Logan Stevens (9). Their mother, Mrs. Helene Stevens, prepared the material they requested to clean up the mess.

While the children were cleaning the graffiti, a police officer saw what they were doing and was so impressed he gave them each a badge and went to a grocery store and purchased additional cleaning items, plus juice boxes for them. Other children joined them in cleaning it up and were very proud to help.

I am sorry that I forgot the officer's last name (first name was David) but his interest and pride in the children was unbelievable. My hat's off to him since he brought a lot of joy and smiles to the children for his interest and kindness.

One final note: These children did this all on their own. I am so proud of them all that I wanted to share it with the people of Beverly.

ALBERT L. LEGAULT
