I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the local businesses, community leaders and continued supporters of the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Salem for the tremendous outpouring of sponsorships, auction items and personal donations for the fifth annual Spring Gala, which was held April 3 at the Hawthorne Hotel.
The event raised more than $20,000 in a single evening. The four finalists for Youth of the Year attended the gala, and each of them read their essay on why they wanted to be Youth of the Year.
Your kindness will make an immediate difference in the lives of the 1,000 members of the Boys & Girls Club in Salem and Peabody. In addition, your generosity is going to help us fund future programs and to improve on existing programs such as the Keystone Club, which involves teen members and focuses on community service, the brand-new club newspaper, published by our own Media Club three times during the school year, the Torch Club involving younger club members teaching them leadership skills, and many, many more programs.
