Apparently members of the Peabody City Council just can't abide the thought of a business open 24 hours a day, even if it's on a major highway like Route 114. But it will allow the Dunkin' Donuts planned for the former KFC site near the Danvers line to be open 21 hours a day.
Seems ludicrous to require that the retail window be closed from midnight to 3 a.m. It would be better if more councilors shared veteran member Jim Liacos' concern about traffic backing up onto the highway from the drive-through window. Now that could be a real problem.
