To the editor:
It was very interesting reading the comments of the Northside Carting representative in the recent article about their receiving the new contract for trash pickup in Salem.
Without commenting on the entire article pro or con, I — and I'm sure many others — couldn't believe his comments about never hearing any complaints about the trash collection and not having the names of those with complaints.
Well, here is one: Very recently, on Tuesday, June 24, our trash was not picked up — a mere two plastic bags at 14 Glenn Ave. And this was not the only time.
To remedy this, we usually just call the Salem DPW, and they see to it. Never have we called Northside directly. The city employs them, and it's the city's responsibility to make sure complaints are addressed, which the DPW gladly does.
