The Salem News has always made its letters page available to those who wish to thank individuals, organizations, businesses and others for acts of kindness and other deeds deserving of commendation.
Due to the volume of letters, not all can be published. Preference is given those involving events which have been in the news or in which the entire community has participated, or that concerned individuals who have gone above and beyond in their response to a situation.
We are unable to publish personal letters thanking hospitals, nursing homes, businesses or other organizations or individuals whose actions were part of their normal responsibilities. In these cases we suggest readers send a note addressed directly to those involved.
All thank-you letters should be kept as concise as possible. Any more than 350 words long are subject to editing, as is the policy with all letters to the editor.
Also in keeping with the regular letters policy, these notes must include the name(s) of the sender, home community and phone number. (The latter is for verification only, not for publication.)
Letters can be sent via e-mail (nbenton@salemnews.com), fax (978-927-4524) or regular mail (Salem News, 32 Dunham Road, Beverly, MA 01915).
