Yes, August was dry. But even before that warm and cloudless month, our water supply was under stress.

Strained public water systems are common in Massachusetts, despite rainfall and groundwater levels that were average for the first half of this year, according to the United States Geological Survey. It appears, then, that no matter how high or low rainfall and groundwater levels are, the potential for drought conditions exist.Read this article in full with a
