Women's Lacrosse

Roger Williams refused to go away during Saturday night's Commonwealth Coast Conference women's lacrosse championship game. But in the end, Endicott wasn't going to be denied, and the Gulls emerged with a 7-6 win and their third straight CCC championship.

With underdog Roger Williams leading 4-3 late in the first half, Peabody's Emily Judd notched her second straight goal to tie the score and ignite the Gulls. Brittany Kane and Valerie Feldman would score before the half to cap a three goal run in the final 5:00 that gave EC control for good.

Trailing 7-5 late, Roger Williams managed two unanswered goals in a desperation attempt to get back into the game. It fell short with Gulls goalie Molly Hamel collecting 10 saves to stymie the RW attack.

Feldman finished with three goals and an assist to pace the offense for the Gulls, who will begin play in the NCAA tournament next week (TBA).

MEN'S LACROSSE

Western New England 12, Endicott 10

The Gulls couldn't hold on to a one-goal lead with 5:30 left to play as WNEC scored three unanswered goals to shock host Endicott and win the Commonwealth Conference title. WNEC led 3-0 early before two goals from Beverly's Eddie O'Reilly brought Endicott (16-3) back. Brandon Dube and Dan Cain each also scored twice, but it wasn't enough as Endicott fell to a conference foe for the first time since 2003.

Endicott has a shot at an at-large bid to the NCAA Division 3 tournament with pairings announced late last night.

COLLEGE BASEBALL

Bridgewater State 9, Salem State 3

The Vikings trailed 5-0 midway through an elimination game in the MASCAC championship tournament Saturday and couldn't recover, ending their season at 25-15 without a postseason win. Ryan Kane knocked a solo homer and Anthony Palmieri doubled to score Matt Mello as SSC tried to battle back, but the effort was in vain.

COLLEGE SOFTBALL

Endicott 7, Nichols 0

The Gulls (38-4) earned their sixth-straight CCC championship in convincing fashion with Jenn Elwell's complete game shutout on the mound doing most of the damage. Meghan Sargent drove in a pair as Endicott led 4-0 after the first inning and never looked back.

Endicott now awaits the release of the NCAA's Regional Tournament pairings, which are set to be announced this morning.

Westfield State 3, Salem State 2

Despite a 3 for 4 effort from Danvers' Taylor Orlando, the Lady Vikings fell in a nail-biter Saturday and were eliminated from the MASCAC playoffs. SSC (20-21) had runners at first and third threatening to score in the final inning, but couldn't push one across the plate as Westfield State advanced to the conference championship game.

Previously Saturday, the Lady Vikings advanced with a 2-1 win over Framingham State. Katelyn Doherty's walkoff triple plated the deciding run while Jess Baird had a crucial solo homer.
