Endicott earns No. 2 seed in NCAA tourney

Fresh off a sweep in the Commonwealth Coast Conference Tournament, the Endicott College softball team is the No. 2 seed in the NCAA Division 3 regional and will play Keuka College of New York tomorrow (2 p.m.) in Plattsburgh, N.Y.

Endicott finished 38-4 overall and 22-2 in the conference. The Gulls gave up just one run in three games in the conference tourney. Jenn Elwell went 2-0 on the mound with two complete-game shutouts. Rachel Pearson paced the offense in the conference tourney with a .667 average.

Meghan Sargent was named conference player of the year after a regular season in which she led the Gulls in hits (42), doubles (11), home runs (6), RBIs (33) and total bases (71).

Keuka College heads into the NCAA tourney with a 23-7 record. Freshman Sara Fredricks had a team-high 41 hits, five homers and 38 RBIs. Jen Shaughnessy went 3-0 on the mound as The Storm captured the North Eastern Athletic Conference Tournament.
