The Dullea File

Age: 16

High school: Bishop Fenwick

Year in school: Junior

Sport: Lacrosse

Position: Center attack and defense

Tell us about your historical varsity debut.

"My first varsity game was also Fenwick's first (female) match in history (last April). I can remember we were nervous about possibly losing and getting off to a bad start. I can't recall who we played (it was Marian). We won (8-6) and I scored four goals. Friends and a lot of teachers turned out in support of us."

What attracted you to lacrosse?

"I started in the Peabody Youth Lacrosse league when I was younger. I always liked it; the fast pace and a lot of offense. It's a lot like other sports: basketball, field hockey and soccer. Lacrosse also has a lot of finesse. The boys hit each other a lot. The girls' game has more skill."

Which sport do you prefer, basketball or lacrosse?

"I like them both, so I can't decide on that question. I focus on each one during their seasons. I think I'd take whichever one was better for me in college in terms of a scholarship."

How do you account for your terrific stats (51 goals, 11 assists) after scoring 44 goals last year?

"Teammates have helped me a lot; they get the ball downfield to me. I also work hard in the offseason, running every day, playing hoops at the Peabody YMCA in the summer or playing lacrosse catch with our goalie, Jill Defrancesco. Sometimes too with my brother John, who has helped me with my basketball."

What lacrosse improvements would you like to make?

"I've been working on my left hand so I can cradle with both hands. I'd gain so much if I could play with both hands."

Have you thought about college yet?

"Not that much. I'd love to go somewhere where it's warm."

What will you be doing in 10 years?

"I hope I'll be involved in sports, plus staying in touch with my friends and family all the time. I don't think I'll be married, but who knows? If I'm married, I think I'd like a lot of kids some day, 3 or 4. Hopefully I'll still be playing lacrosse and basketball, active in leagues. I never want to stop playing sports. Coaching would be great."

What was your best lacrosse moment?

"This year against Arlington Catholic when we qualified for the state tournament and I got my 100th (career) point. I think it was a 12-11 win. It was the most exciting lacrosse game I ever played in."

Is the United States ready for a female president?

"I don't get into that. Am I glad a change is coming up in the White House? Change is good. I think it'll be positive, but I really don't get involved in politics."

Do you enjoy music?

"I like every kind of music. Rock, like Counting Crows. Rap, hip hop. Anything you can dance to, I like."

Do you have a job?

"I'm trying to find one. Know of any openings?"

COMING UP NEXT: Dullea and the Crusaders host Lawrence Central Catholic Friday afternoon in Peabody.
