Softball

Peabody, Ipswich, Beverly and Bishop Fenwick will play in the second annual Courtney Corning Memorial Tournament on Saturday and Sunday at Endicott College in Beverly. Saturday's doubleheader pits Peabody against Ipswich at noon, followed by Beverly vs. Bishop Fenwick at 2 p.m. The two winners meet Sunday at 2 p.m. in the championship game, preceeded by the consolation game at noon. The tourney is held in memory of Corning, a former Peabody player who was killed in an automobile accident.

A silent auction featuring hotel weekends, Red Sox tickets and golf outings will take place on both days. Tickets for the tourney are $5 for adults and $3 for children and seniors. Donations can also be made to the Courtney Marie Corning Memorial Fund, c/o Eastern Bank, 37 Foster Street, Peabody, Mass., 01950.

Radio Sports

St. John's Prep football and rugby star Nate Brakeley will be among the guests on North Shore Sports Desk this Saturday (8-9 a.m.) on 104.9 FM. Newburyport baseball pitcher Kyle McElroy and Masconomet girls lacrosse Kim Marini will also be guests on the show, as will North Shore golf author Gary Larrabee. Phil Stacey and Bill Kipouras of The Salem News sports staff will co-host the show.

Youth Football

The Beverly Panthers Football Youth Skills Clinic will be held the week of July 7-11 at Beverly High. This is for grades 2-6. The cost is $95 with registration taking place through the Beverly Parks & Recreation Department. Beverly High head coach Dan Bauer, his staff and Panther players will work with the participants.

The NFL Junior Development Program is set for July 21-25 at Beverly High. This NFL sponsored program is for ages 12-14 and is free of charge. The NFL also provides equipment at no charge. The Beverly High football staff, Beverly Pop Warner and other local coaches and Beverly players will work the program. The camp is open to everyone from the North Shore.
