Beverly finishes North Shore Summer hoop season unbeaten

Behind 11 points each from Nate Knudsen, Mike Clayton and Ron Alford, Beverly finished the North Shore Summer Basketball League's regular season unbeaten with a 63-54 victory over Georgetown last night at the Plains Park courts. Beverly finished at 11-0 heading into next week's playoffs.

Georgetown got fine games from Jaymie Spears (15 points), Julio Colon (14) and Mike Messman (13).

St. John's Prep 89, Hamilton-Wenham 50

Ryan Canty dropped in 14 points and Justin Marenko added 10 in the Prep's blowout victory. Sean Hines and Pat Hendrickson each had nine points for H-W.

Newburyport 57, Masconomet 42

Nick Welch (19 points) and Bruce Pollard (16) were too much for Masconomet in leading Newburyport to victory. Clay Cleveland (9 pionts) and John Daniels (7) were the offensive leaders for Masco.

LEGION

Danvers 8, Beverly 4

Steve Blanchette totaled four RBIs on a double and a triple as Danvers mashed its way to its second straight victory and finished the season 6-14.

Zach Ryan, T.J. Patrikas and Chris O'Hare each drove in a run for the winners while Kyle James pitched a complete game in his final start in Legion ball. He whiffed eight en route to the victory.

SENIOR BABE RUTH

Beverly 10, Danvers 0

Jason Boaman struck out 14 in only six innings of work and Sam Cohen hit for the cycle with four RBI to lead Beverly (8-6) to a convincing win. Steve Williams was 2 for 2 with three RBI to help the cause while Danvers' Josh Levesque recorded nine strikeouts in 42/3 innings despite the loss.

NORTH SHORE LEAGUE

Beverly Recs 4, Saugus 4

The Recs trailed 4-0 heading into the final inning but rallied to knot the game before it was called due to darkness. Steve Zernary drove in a crucial run in the final inning while Adam Gosselin and Mike Dedo also recorded RBI to help the Recs force the late tie.
