SOFTBALL

Strike One in Danvers will hold a Fall Softball League from Sept. 6 to Oct. 12 at its Danvers facility, featuring Under-10, U14 and U18 Divisions. U10 and U14 teams will play on Saturdays while U18 teams will play on Sundays. Coaches may register full teams and, in addition to a 12-game fall schedule, will also receive six practice dates at Strike One, including field and batting cage time. Individuals may register to play on a Strike One team, and in addition to a 12-game fall schedule, will also participate in 12 hours of team practice at Strike One, including field and batting cage time. Individual players will also receive uniforms and a 1,hour private lesson with a Strike One coach.

YOUTH HOCKEY

Marblehead Youth Hockey will hold a sports equipment sale Saturday at the Gerry 5 on Beacon Street from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Buyers can expect to find skates, sticks and other hockey gear, but also baseball gloves, football gear and golf accessories. Donation pickups can be arranged by calling 781-631-2206.

BASKETBALL

Visionary Basketball Group will be holding tryouts for its fall AAU and team programs Sunday at Endicott College in Beverly. Teams will be fielded for Middle and High School boys and girls. Boys will tryout from 10 a.m.-noon followed by girls tryouts from noon-2 p.m. There is a non-refundable tryout fee of $35. BASEBALL

The Hit Zone in Swampscott will be running several baseball teams this fall in the 12U, 13U, 15U and 18U age groups. The teams will play doubleheaders for six straight weeks starting on Sept. 6. Space is limited. For more information, call 781-592-4487 or go online at www.the-hit-zone.com.

Scott Bevan's Tribe team is holding tryouts for 13s and 14s on Aug. 24 (2 p.m. to 6 p.m.), Aug. 29 (5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.) and Aug. 30 (2 p.m. to 6 p.m.) at Twi Field in Danvers.

Beverly Little League is conducting mail-in registration for the 2009 baseball season from now until Sept. 5. Returning players have been mailed registration forms. For new players, forms are available at Todd's Sporting Goods, 393 Cabot St., or they may be downloaded at the BLL website, www.eteamz.com/BeverlyLL. Players must be at least 5, but not 13, as of April 30, 2009.

HOCKEY

SKATING

Learn to skate classes for ages 2-1âÑ2 through adult will be held at Johnson Rink in Hamilton and the Talbot Rink in Gloucester. Registration runs from September through May. For more information, call 978-546-2290.

SOCCER

The Salem YMCA and Mass Premier Soccer are linking to provide the MPS soccer program for ages 3-5, starting Sept. 15 at 3 p.m. Mass Premier Soccer will also be running its Smart Soccer Program for ages 5-10 starting on Sept. 15 at 4 p.m. For more information, call Mary Sholds at the Salem YMCA at 978-744-0351, ext. 102.
