Swampscott win forces Game 7 in NSBL finals

Champions of Peabody had every intention of ending the North Shore Baseball League finals last night at the Twi Field in Danvers. Jay Tarasuik and the Swampscott Sox had other ideas.

Tarasuik blasted a pair of three-run homers to lift Swampscott to a 9-2 victory that forces a decisive Game 7 tonight (7:30) at Swampscott High School.

Joe Breen allowed five hits for a complete-game victory for the Sox.

Swampscott opened the scoring with one in the top of the first and Champions quickly took the lead on Mike Giardi's two-run single in the bottom of the frame.

The Champions lead was short-lived, however, as Swampscott scored four runs in the third to take the lead for good.

Giardi also played well defensively at third base for Champions.
