Brittany Fraser notched a hat trick and twin sister Heather turned in a superb effort as the Chieftains (1-0) rolled in their season opener. Margeaux Guercia had a goal plus an assist while Laura Thibedeau and Sydney Goudett also scored. Kate Anderson stopped five shots to earn the shutout in net.
Lynnfield 5, Ipswich 2
Lynnfield had a big territorial edge and handled Ipswich in the season opener for both teams. Sophomore Liz Glavin and senior Emily Berkman provided the goals for Ipswich, which got an outstanding performance from goalie Emily Bouvier, who finished with 20 saves.
GIRL'S SOCCER
St. Mary's 2, Salem 0
Freshman keeper Emma Titus had a strong debut for the Witches (0-1) with nine saves. St. Mary's star Amanda Webster broke through for two goals, however, and the Spartans defense managed to keep Salem off the board to secure the victory. Melissa Ryan also played well for Salem.

Danvers 243, Salem 266
The Falcons (3-0) stayed perfect on the season with the top three scorers including overall winner Troy Thibodeau (36) and Larry Saggese (39) and sophomore Kyle Larsen (41). The Witches (0-1) were led by Wes Keon and Mike Doherty, who each scored 40.
Amesbury 106, Ipswich 105
Ipswich took Amesbury into a tie breaker but the Indians proved to be too much, as they held on for the win. The Tigers' top scorers were Joe Stella (21 points), Ty Zampitella (19) and Mike Puente (19).
Swampscott 38.5, Winthrop 33.5
The Big Blue edged Winthrop as Alex Patkin of Swampscott (1-0) and Jake Brand of Winthrop (0-1) were both medalists by shooting a score of 33. Sean McGovern played his first varsity match for Swampscott helping out with scores of 5.5 and 3.5. Also playing well for the Big Blue were Justin Massey (7-2), and Max Kane (7-2).
COLLEGE WOMEN'S SOCCER
Brandeis 1, Gordon 0
The Scots dropped their season opener despite a fine performance in goal from Abby Ytzen (7 saves). Five of those saves came in the second half.
COLLEGE FIELD HOCKEY
Endicott College 4, Fitchburg State 0
The Gulls were able to shutout Fitchburg State behind solid play from senior goaltender Chelsea DeFeo. Defeo racked up eight saves to secure the shutout for Endicott. Joanne Reid sent home two goals for Endcott. Sophomore Amanda Shaw scored the final goal of the contest to solidify the win.
