The name of a Masconomet field hockey player was spelled incorrectly in Thursday's editions of The Salem News. The correct spelling is Lara Thibodeau, who had a goal in the Chieftains' 5-0 victory over Wilmington.
FOOTBALL
The Marblehead Magicians Gridion Hall of Fame will hold its 24th annual Hall of Fame Induction Dinner on Saturday, Sept. 27 at the Gerry 5 in Marblehead. The social hour begins at 6 p.m., with dinner at 7 and the induction ceremonies at 8 p.m. Those being inducted include former Marblehead High football greats Charles Prince (1942-44), Bill Kiely (1943-45), Gil Bray (1945-47), Ken Steadman (1969-71), Bill McNeil (1970-72) and Josh Commoss (1990-92). The North East Conference Youth Football League, a new youth football and cheering league on the North Shore, will kick off its inaugural season with a Jamboree this Sunday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Bertram Field in Salem. All the teams in the league will play exhibition game,s and the cheerleaders will demonstrate their team cheers between each session. The new league has associations representing Salem, Lynn, Beverly and Swampscott. All are welcome to attend.

BASEBALL
Mike Giardi's Hornets AAU program will be running several teams next spring from 12U through 16U age groups. Tryouts will be held at Seaside Park in Marblehead tomorrow, as well as Sept. 13 and Sept. 20. Tryouts for 15U and 16U will be at 8:45 a.m. with pre-registration at 8 a.m. Tryouts for 13U and 14U will be at 11:45 a.m. with pre-registration beginning at 11 a.m. Tryouts for 12U are still to be determined.
