The match had to go to a tiebreaker and Hamilton-Wenham won it when its No. 7 player, Dave Rowe, outscored his Manchester foe, 21-20. Hamilton-Wenham improved to 5-4.
"It just doesn't get any closer than that," said H-W coach Bill Corley. "The thing is, Manchester Essex had played a one pointer in its previous match."
Colin Kenny accounted for 29 points for the Generals and Matt Zisson had 26. Dean Loeper was responsible for 25 points and Ryan Richard had 24.
Salem 401âÑ2, Saugus 311âÑ2
Once again Salem (7-5) was led by medalist Wes Koen, who shot an even par 35. Other winners were: Peter Cavallaro, Pat Little, Mike Doherty and Shane Ballou.
Peabody 40, Winthrop 32
Each of the Tanners eight golfers shot between 40 and 42 to lead Peabody (9-2, 7-0 NEC) to a tight win over Winthrop at The Meadow. Peter Sucharewicz and Greg Durant shot 40 while Sean Craven, Pat Trainor, Kyle Franey, Brian Latorella and Ryan English all contributed 41s.

Pingree (2-1-3) was led by Andrew Smeallie's two goals in the tie. Zach Seldman added the other goal with the assists going to Allen Williamson and Nick Gram.
VOLLEYBALL
North Andover 3, Peabody 0
Peabody fell, 25-18, 25-13, and 26-24. Janelle Rodriguez led the Tanners (5-5) with six kills, four blocks, and three tips and Jinny Fleming had five blocks. Cailin Griffin and Emily Milewska played well offensively.
Salem 3, Beverly 1
In a very tight battle, the Witches (4-6) were paced by Sarah Mullarkey (23 service points, nine aces), and Elisa Nunez (10 service points, seven aces). Others who played well were Sarah Duncan, Jen Bedard, Ishrat Raji, and Devyn Ryan.
North Reading 3, Masconomet 1
Despite the solid serving of Amanda Gotts, the Chieftains fell to 6-5.
WOMEN'S COLLEGE VOLLEYBALL
Endicott 2, Western New England 0
Eights were alive for the Gulls, as Colleen Pepin notched her eighth goal of the year in the eighth minute to help Endicott (7-2-1, 6-0-0 CCC) stay perfect in conference play. Caitlin Flynn also added an insurance goal later in the first half while Amy Meuse earned her third shutout in net.
