BOSTON — The nation's top education official plans to meet with local college students during a visit to Boston.
U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan is scheduled to be joined on Monday by Sen. John Kerry for a town hall-style meeting at Emerson College with students from Emerson and several other universities.
Among the issues expected to be discussed are college affordability and workforce preparation. Duncan is also expected to meet separately with some local college presidents.
Earlier Monday, Duncan and state Education Commissioner Mitchell Chester are scheduled to host a workshop examining new teacher evaluation guidelines that were approved as part of Massachusetts application for federal Race to the Top funding.
The state is scheduled to begin implementing those guidelines in September.
