BOSTON | Here’s how members of the North Shore’s legislative delegation were recorded on two key roll-call votes during debate of a safe-driving bill last Tuesday.
1. MOBILE PHONE BAN | Amendment 25 to adopt the House provision calling for a ban on cell-phone use while driving. The amendment was defeated by an 18-16 vote.
Voting yes: Thomas McGee, D-Lynn
Voting no: Fred Berry, D-Peabody; Bruce Tarr, R-Gloucester.
2. PRIMARY ENFORCEMENT OF TEXTING BAN | Amendment 2 was to make the ban on driving while texting a primary offense, meaning police can stop a driver they observe texting while operating a motor vehicle. The amendment passed by a 24-10 vote.
