COLLEGE BASEBALL
Salem State Sweeps: The Vikings swept Worcester State — 7-2 and 12-0 — to move to 19-5. Kevin Salines and Kyle McElroy each went 3-for-4, Brett Cahill added two hits and two runs, while Ethan Trowt drove in a pair of runs in the first game. Matt Kerr struck out five in five innings for the win.
Steve Buitkus had three hits, three runs and two RBI to power the Vikings in the second game. Nick Conti had a 3-for-4 performance with three runs and an RBI, and Chris Cocci knocked in three runs for Salem State. Ed Deren earned the win by scattering seven hits in a complete-game effort.
COLLEGE SOFTBALL
Endicott drops a pair: Endicott lost two games to Brandeis, 4-1 and 12-3, to slip to 12-9. Junior third baseman Jocelyn Russo had an RBI double to account for the Gulls' only run in Game 1, while Byrne Katz (2 RBI) and Krista Fales (RBI) drove in the Endicott runs in the second game.
Salem State splits: Gabbie Vitale and Lauren DiCredico each went 2-for-3 with two runs scored to help Salem State salvage a split with a 5-2 victory over Worcester State in the second game of a doubleheader. Worcester won the opening game 6-0. Jen Toussaint drove in a pair of runs in the Vikings' win, while Alyssa Bryan earned the pitching win and went 2-for-2 with an RBI.
SOFTBALL
Manchester Essex 14, Ipswich 10: Nicole Bradley (4-for-4, 3 RBI), Sarah Beckman (4-for-4, 2 RBI) and Kelly Dodge (3-for-5, 2 RBI) powered the offense as the Hornets opened the season with a win.
BOYS LACROSSE
Ipswich 18, Saugus 3: Mike Darisse (seven goals, five assists), Pete Moutevelis (two goals, five assists) and Cam Murray (three goals) paced the Ipswich offense as the Tigers (1-1) defense limited Saugus to just six total shots.
GIRLS LACROSSE
Beverly 14, Swampscott 7: A strong start propelled the Panthers to the win. Beverly, which led 12-3 at the half, got five goals and one assist from Camden Vitale, while Katherine Creamer pitched in three goals and one assist. Nicole Woods (2 goals, 4 assists), Hayley Lewis (2-0), Elizabeth Musumeci (1-2) and Mandy Cecchini (1-0) also contributed to the Beverly (2-0) offense.
waring 20, landmark 13: Senor Maggie Sheetz exploded offensively for Waring (1-0), leading the way with seven goals and one assist. Emily Friend and Elanor Lustig combined for eight goals and three assists.
