Manchester Essex 3, Peabody 1: Harry Painter hit a 2-run homer in the bottom of the final inning to send Manchester to break a 1-1 tie and send Manchester to the win. Jonathan Polignone pitched well for Peabody and Mason Zueli had his team’s RBI as Peabody led 1-0 early.

nORTH sHORE 9, kINGSTON 3: The Phillies scored four times in the first and four more times in the fifth to take Game 3 of the NSBL finals and consequently a 2-1 lead in the best-of-7 series. Mike Ferriero hit a 2-run homer for Kingston and Chris Sartori had two hits. Game 4 is scheduled for tomorrow morning at Haverhill (11 a.m.).

Swampscott/Nahant 4, Marblehead 2: Swampscott broke a scoreless tie in the fifth inning to win the opening game of the 30th Ray Gallant Tournament in Salem. Swampscott scored three runs on wild pitches, Owen Neugent had his team’s only hit and Connor Tidd struck out nine with Jack McIntire earning the save.Marblehead’s Chris Gally had his team’s RBI.
