Monday's area roundup: Blomberg, Gordon top Nichols

Gordon junior Anna Blomberg led all scorers with five goals, as the Fighting Scots netted 12 goals in the first half alone en route to a 16-5 victory over New England College yesterday afternoon.

Jessica Castelline added four markers and one helper, while Abby Illian and Bailey Grinnell each had a pair of goals for the Scots (4-1).

Danielle Maguire, Julianne Kirkpatrick and Ani Karabashian split time in goal with four saves.

The Scots bounced right back after being handed their first loss of the season to Endicott over the weekend.

Curry 13, Salem State 9: The Vikings dropped their second straight game of the season, despite seeing a strong showing from Kristen Cahoon, who netted four goals for Salem State. SSU returns to Alumni Field tomorrow against Colby-Sawyer College, to open a three-game homestand.


Nichols 11, Salem State 10: Nichols score four-fourth quarter goals to edge out the visiting Vikings (4-1) last night. A.J. Robertson (four goals) and Ben Melaugh (three goals) led to the scoring attack as Salem State led 6-3 at the break. Dylan Svenson made 11 saves in the loss.
