Area roundup: Danvers field hockey shuts down Peabody


Revere 3, Peabody 2: Ben Manoogian and Tommy Drover scored in the second half for Peabody (7-2-3) but it wasn’t enough to overcome a three-goal deficit in the first half.

danvers 5, saugus 0: Senior captain Matt Hogan led the scoring for the Falcons (10-2-1) with three goals and an assist. Eric Martin chipped in with a pair of scores, while freshman Cam Borstein recorded his first varsity shutout turning away nine shots.

nst/Essex Aggie 2, nashoba tech 1: Freshman Josh Zwiercan recorded both goals for the Bulldogs (6-4-4). Jeremy Smalley came in in the second half and played outstanding in goal.

Salem 3, Lynn English 1: Robert Abreu tallied a pair of scores for the Witches (9-2-2), while Jason Alas scored a single marker. Brendon Caliri and Nathan Russell recorded assists.


NST/EA 3, Lynn Voke 0: Rihannon Lane was strong in her setting and Kiah Byrd served extremely well for NST/EA (10-4) which won in straight games (25-10, 25-10, 25-18).

Bishop Fenwick St. Mary’s 0: Junior captains Kate Lipka and Gianna Pizzano combined for 15 kills and Julie Ywuc added 13 assists as Fenwick (12-4) topped St. Mary’s in straight games (25-9, 25-10, 25-11). Siobhan McConnell had eight straight service points.


Marblehead 43, Saugus 29: Connor Green and Owen Picariello both shot 37 for Marblehead (10-2-1) which is now 10-0 in the Northeastern Conference Small. Trevor Jones shot a 38 for the Magicians and Kyle Maulden shot a 39.

Swampscott 46.5, LE 25.5: Kevin Marescalchi medaled (39 points) with a three-over for Swampscott (11-5) which is 5-5 in the Northeastern Conference.

Ipswich 129, Lynnfield 113: The Tigers moved to 4-11 behind junior Quinn O’Connor’s 28 points. Senior Adam Stellineand junior Ryan Mulkerin each chipped in 23 points.

Masco 162, Hamilton-Wenham 99: Brothers Charlie and George May contributed 32 points each for Masco (12-1) while Danny Reblin added 27 points.

Danvers 125, Salem 87: Colby Sedlier led the way with 28 points, while Mike Planskey finished with 25 for the Falcons. Tim Richmond was the high man for Salem with 26 points and AJ Darmaty recorded 18.
