Salem News 2013 Boys Spring Track All-Stars



Salem Junior


Northeastern Conference Large co-MVP … Captain did it all for Witches … Undefeated in 100 (10.9), 200 (23.4), 400 (52.8), long jump (21-5) and triple jump (41-9) until ankle injury late in season … In first four meets he won the long jump, triple jump, 100 and 400 … Triple winner in meet against powerful Peabody ... Was a state qualifier in six events … Member of Witches’ 4x100 relay squad … Plans to run in college.


St. John’s Prep Junior

Shot Put/Discus

Division 1 state champ in shot put and 3rd in discus … Named Outstanding Performer for Catholic Conference … League all-star … Won shot put (53-3) and was 2nd in discus (141-4) at league meet … Had best shot put in state (57-6) until Joe Manson ‘s 57-7 ½ at nationals … Gloucester resident broke school record in shot … Was 8th in shot put and 12th in discus at All-State … Best discus was 149-11 … Carries 3.85 GPA and plans to go to a top academic college with strong track and field program.


Masconomet Junior


Cape Ann League Open javelin champion (173-7) broke school record in the event … Was 4th at Division 2 states and 7th at All-State … Anchored 4x100 CAL champion relay team … Valuable member of 4x400 relay went undefeated in dual meets (8-0) … Captain-elect from Middleton wants to study engineering in college … Breaking school record and going to All-State were highlights of season.


Peabody Junior


Won league championship in mile at 4:27 … NEC all-star was undefeated in 800, mile, and two-mile … Finished 5th at Division 1 state mile (4:28) … His 4:25 mile time was the best on North Shore ... Had the third-fastest two-mile time in state this spring at Weston Twilight Invitational for third place (9:22) … Named Outstanding junior for Tanners … Ran 5000 at New Balance nationals in 15:24 for second fastest outdoor 5K ever by Peabody athlete … Carries 3.4 GPA and plans to run in college.
