Thanksgiving Blitz

PLAYERS OF THE DAY

1. Bobby Tarr, Bishop Fenwick. The junior tailback re-wrote the holiday record books, rushing for a mind-boggling 372 yards and scoring four times in a 40-28 victory at Austin Prep. For the season, Tarr finished with an unthinkable 2,491 yards and 35 TDs.

2. Pat Bailey, Beverly. The Panthers senior tri-captain and tailback capped off his brilliant career by rushing for 243 yards and a pair of scores as the Orange and Black beat Salem for the fourth straight year, 28-7. Bailey finished the year with 1,498 yards.

3. Alex McCarthy, Ipswich. Playing with a torn ACL, the senior linebacker stepped in at fullback in an emergency situation and scored the game's only touchdown as the Tigers advanced to the playoffs with a 7-0 victory over Hamilton-Wenham.

4. Sam Perlow, Marblehead. The sophomore defensive end picked off a pass and returned it 44 yards for a touchdown in the second quarter for the game's only score as the Magicians upset host Swampscott, 6-0.

5. Nate Masterson, Hamilton-Wenham. Junior middle linebacker was a force all day for the Generals, never more so when he helped stuff Ipswich on four tries from H-W's 1-yard line late in the contest. He also had three catches for 39 yards.

SIDELINE CHATTER

"(Bobby) Tarr is amazing. He is by far the best running back I have ever seen in my entire life."

- Bishop Fenwick senior fullback Mike Stoico, after watching Tarr rumble for a school record 372 yards and four touchdowns in the Crusaders' 40-28 win at Austin Prep.
