GIRLS TENNIS

Danvers 4, Beverly 1: The Falcons (4-1) prevailed with match wins by singles players Rachel Ziner (6-1, 6-0) and Kelly McCarthy (6-2, 7-5) and also swept doubles with wins by Ellen Gagnon/Raquel Leslie (6-4, 6-4) and Jenn Leuke/Ciara Mallon (6-2, 6-2).

Marblehead 5, Winthrop 0: Kelly Mealey (6-1 6-0), Sarah Katz (6-1, 6-0) and Anna Valuez (6-0, 6-0) won their singles matches in straight sets as the Magicians improved to 4-0. Meaghan Hanratty/Amanda Gilberg (6-1, 6-0) and Liz Lewkan/Eliza Fitzgerald (6-1, 6-0) won both doubles matches.

BOYS TENNIS

Danvers 4, Beverly 1: A pair of three set wins from Kevin Hodgkins (7-6, 0-6, 6-4) and Brian Daly/Jimmy Cunningham (3-6, 6-4, 7-6) helped Danvers hand Beverly its first loss. Top singles players Nick Lisichenok (6-3, 6-4) and Gabe Ochonski (6-4, 6-1) also won in straight sets for the Falcons.

St. John’s Prep 5, Malden Catholic 0: The Eagles (6-0) won all five bouts in straight sets behind Chris Toner (6-0, 6-2), Nico Lamacher (6-1, 6-0), Sam Cunningham (6-0, 6-1) and the teams of Ian Wright/Alex McNiff (6-0, 6-4) and Jon Shaffer/Sean Nork (6-0, 6-0).

BOYS TRACK

Masconomet 90, Triton 55: The Chieftains (5-0) got first-place finishes from Regan Charie (200, 23.0), Garrett Roberts (high hurdles, 16.7), Tristan Cluster (low hurdles, 60.1) and David Drigo (javelin, 140-2). Also winning events for Masconomet were Marco Caserta (2-mile), Simon Tardiff (long jump), Harry Kent (mile), Nolan Rice (high jump) and Alex Gikas (800).

North Reading 82, Ipswich 63: The Tigers (2-2) won both relays with Nate Glaster, David Dick, Neil Coleman and Nick Mammolette winning the 4x400 and Kyle Ivanov, Robbie Fay, Matt Jaeger and Chris DiNocci winning the 4x100. Individual winners for Ipswich were Michael Riddle (2-mile), Jaeger (triple jump), Glaster (400), Mammolette (800) and Fay (200).

Swampscott 69, Saugus 59: Rob Seymour doubled in the shot (50-11/2) and the discus (122-4) as the Big Blue even out at 2-2 on the season. Maleek Newsome took the 200 (23.4), Zach Blonder won the 100 (11.3), Peter Hale was first in the 2 mile (9:56) and Declan McClung took the 400 (53.3).

GIRLS TRACK

Ipswich 73, North Reading 72: Double-winner Michaela Hedderman (100 and 200) helped the Tigers (3-1) win by a razor thin margin. Also winning events were Marissa Cain (javelin), Nora McMorrow (long jump), Hannah Steele (high jump), Devin Smith (triple jump), Tina Keiran (2-mile) and Sarah Keiran (mile). The 4x100 team (McMorrow, Katie Monahan, Shoshana Kumin and Steeve) was also victorious.
