After a two-year hiatus, American Legion Post 331 is once again sponsoring a Legion Baseball team in Beverly. As one of the oldest Legion programs in the state, Beverly offers its program to players between 15 and 17 years old from Beverly High, Salem High and Hamilton-Wenham Regional. A ‘Meet The Coach’ meeting with head coach John Prisco will be held this Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Herman A. Spear Post 331 on 3 Judson Street in Beverly, where the 2013 season and the team’s 25-game schedule (which starts June 9) will be reviewed. Player information and coach’s applications will also be accepted. Tryouts for the team will be held May 25-26 at Beverly High School at 2 p.m. For more information, please call Prisco at 508-801-4946.


Danvers American Legion Post 180 will hold tryouts Sunday, May 5 at 3 p.m. at Twi Field and Sunday, May 12 at 3 p.m. High school baseball players (born on or after 1/1/1994) interested in trying out for the team must register in advance by sending name, address, school, and date of birth to:


Beverly’s entry in the Lou Thompkins All-Star Baseball League will be holding tryouts for its A Division team at Cooney Field in Beverly on Saturday, May 4 at 4 p.m. and Sunday, May 5 at 5 p.m. Any player from Beverly, Salem, Danvers, Hamilton-Wenham or Manchester Essex who is 15 or 16 years old (not turning 17 before May 1) may try out.
