Peabody's Strakosha, Shea named co-Swimmers of the Year

Peabody’s Alex Strakosha and Christine Shea were named co-Swimmers of the Year when the Northeastern Conference All-Conference team and All-Stars were announced yesterday.

Marblehead put 12 kids on the all-conference team. Charlie Seltzer, Christopher Rodts, Thomas Rockett, Zack Michaels, Ryan Alexander, Sophie Zmetrovich, Anne Arthur, Kira Daher, Haley Ohlson, Ellie Ronan, Kylie Cronin and Hannah Verette represented the Magicians.

Salem’s Kevin Clyne, Chase Duffin, Ryan Gauthier and Brian Dunning were also named all-conference, while Beverly’s Sarah Welch and Astrid Swensen were also selected. Peabody’s Paige Hayward joined Strakosha and Shea as an all-conference selection.

Curtis Cunningham of Danvers and Danielle Mayblyum of Swampscott were also named all-conference.

Lynn English’s Matt Demirs, Mike Bruno and Matt Bruno, Lynn Classical’s Erinn Daly and Brian Nelson, and Revere’s Ryan Tran and Josh Rondon rounded out the all-conference team.

Salem High School earned the Sportsmanship Award, and Lynn Classical’s Denise Silva was picked as Coach of the Year.

Marblehead’s Jake Driscoll, Ryann Driscoll, Zoe Daher and Grace Spinney were also named to the all-star team. Other all-stars were: Rachel Grant, Andrea Higgins and Elizabeth Musumeci from Beverly; Danvers’ Cambria Cloutier, Josh Mentzer and Sarah Roach; Peabody’s Maria Strakosha, Cailin Currie and Conor McCarthy; Swampscott’s Kasey Kennedy and William Cronin; Salem’s Reshelle Venico; Revere’s Nicole Paddock; Lynn Classical’s Bobby Choquette, Allysha Dunnigan and Simon Kazimierczyk; and Lynn English’s Frances Serwicki and Jesse Freeman.
