Locals excel in D2 state meet: At the Division 2 Eastern Mass meet at the Reggie Lewis Center, Masconomet’s 4x400 relay was fourth (3:31.92), Harry Kent was sixth in the 2-mile (9:47) and Dan Raphael was sixth in the 600 (1:24.89) and Nolan Rice was fifth in the high jump, clearing 6-feet. Salem’s Jerry Canada placed third in the 55-meter hurdles (8.01) and Jon Crimble was third in the long jump (20-9 1/2).

 

GIRLS HOCKEY

Tewksbury/Methuen 9, Marblehead 2: Senior captain Brittany Smith’s second period goal pushed her over 100 points for her three-year varsity career, but the Lady Headers (6-9-3) had a tough time otherwise on the road. Sydney Cresta also scored while Brooke Keough, Amanda Monahan and Emmarose Winder had assists.
