Friday's area roundup: Fenwick hockeys picks up win in season finale

Bishop Fenwick 6, Lowell Catholic 4: Sophomore Chris Napolitano scored two power play goals in the third period and recorded an assist as the Crusaders finished out their regular season at 3-19. Fellow classmate Matt Townsend picked up a pair of assists along with a goal of his own to help Fenwick.

Mike Campatelli, Chris Carney and Tim Sullivan also added to the scoring. Stephen Young and Bobby Lombardi split time in net, each turning away 15 in the win.

Pingree 5, Worcester 4 (OT): Chris Usseglio scored the game-winning goal on a wrap-around with 4:32 left in overtime for Pingree (6-19-2) in the Holt League semifinals. Ryan St. Pierre, Sam Ober, Sean Khachodourian (two goals) were the other goal scorers while Chris DeVito earned the win in goal.

St. John’s Prep 10, Wakefield 0: Captain Jimmy Currier scored twice and added a pair of assists as the Eagles (9-9-2) punched their ticket to the postseason on the final day of the regular season. Sophomore Seth Murray also scored twice while Zach Laramie and Brian Conry split time evenly in net, making a combined six saves for the shutout. Sophomores Brian Groom and Jeff Cowles (who also had an assist) scored their first career goals in the victory. Sophomore Scott Newton and junior Nick Latham both finished with a goal and an assist while sophomore Mitch Shaheen and junior Tyler Scearbo also lit the lamp.


Beaver Country Day 47, Pingree 31: Kerri Zerfoss (12 points) and Haley Sabino (six points) led Pingree (10-10) in the loss as the Highlanders dropped to 10-4 in the Eastern Independent League.


Masco 0, H/P/NA 0: The Chieftains (8-8-4) qualified for the post season after tying with Haverhill. It was senior day so the team recognized senior Danielle Teixeira at beginning of the game. Center Jensena Moner and goalie Molly Kelley (18 saves) were the top Chieftain players in the contest.
