Beverly's Ashton picked as MASCAC Player of Week

---- — WESTFIELD — Jen Ashton of Beverly, a junior guard for the Westfield State women’s basketball team, has been chosen as the Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Player of the Week.

This past week, Ashton averaged 16 points, five rebounds, five-and-a-half assists and five steals for the Owls, who went 1-1 during that time. In a 73-68 win over Smith College, she finished with 18 points, six rebounds, seven assists and three steals.

Ashton currently leads Westfield State (4-4) in scoring at 13.8 points per game, assists (5.5 per game) and steals (3.4 per game). She is a Beverly High graduate.
