BOYS TRACK

Masconomet splits: The Chieftains took down Saugus, 65-21, but also fell to Newburyport, 47.5-38.5 in a Cape Ann League tri-meet. David Drigo was the winner in the shot put in both meets, while Liam McGrath took the dash and Danny Raphael came out on top in the 600.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Peabody 49, Winthrop 38: Carolyn Scacchi led Peabody (3-1) with 14 points and eight rebounds as the Tanners handed Winthrop its first loss of the season.

Danvers 38, Wakefield 33: Emily McNulty scored 15 points and grabbed 15 rebounds for Danvers (2-1), which overcame 28 turnovers and a poor shooting performance to earn the win.

Manchester Essex 45, Ipswich 33: The Tigers (2-1) suffered their first loss of the season despite a team-high nine points from Jordan Morrissey.

Bishop Fenwick 58, Beverly 33: The Crusaders (3-2) earned a spot in tonight’s Masconomet Holiday Tournament championship game after taking down the Panthers. Fenwick senior captain Kate Lipka led all scorers with 15 points and added four steals in the victory. Lexi Rose finished with 12 points, Sydney Brennan added 10 points, two steals and five rebounds. Colleen Corcoran dropped in six points to go along with her five rebounds, while senior captain Gianna Pizzano finished with five points, two steals and three rebounds. Beverly (0-3) was led by sophomore Melissa Lubas with 10 points, MaryCate Flaherty added six.
