Tigers take third at CAL: Ipswich finished third overall at the CAL Championships with 49 points. Alex Jean-Charles won the dash, Michael Riddle was third in the two mile, Nate Glaster was third in the 300, Ryan Bahar was second in the hurdles, Evan Sorger was sixth in the hurdles, Tim Lee took fourth in the shot put, Alex Nelson claimed sixth in the shot put and the 4X400 relay team of Glaster, Neil Coleman, Sean Whooley and Charlie Gillis came in third.
Matt Gillis was second in the 2 mile (10:02.82) and the 4x400 meter relay team was sixth at last night’s Cape Ann League Open. The Generals finished in nine points and ninth overall in the meet.
Hamilton-Wenham 68, Newburyport 43: Avenging an earlier loss, the Generals hit their free throws and controlled the glass to improve to 12-3 on the year. Haley Willis poured in 20 points along with four assists and four steals while Sue Rose was a perfect 6-for-6 at the line with 11 total points and eight assists. Catherine Ecker had 10 boards, Sam Charette had 11 and Molly Eagar had 11 points.
Lynn English 54, Peabody 37: Senior captain Carolyn Scacchi had a fantastic game for the Tanners (10-4), dropping in 20 points to lead all scorers. Melissa Gray added six points, while Courtney Bua finished with four.
Marblehead 51, Everett 34: Senior Emily Freedland led the way with 14 points, while junior Mia Bongiorno added 13 points as the Magicians move to 9-5 on the season. McKenna Barrett and Jenny Norcross each finished with eight, while freshman Lindsay Walker ended the night with seven steals, eight rebounds and four points.
Swampscott 62, Gloucester 45: Swampscott improved to 5-9 thanks to 13 points from Jackie Ross and Olivia Cooke as well as nine points from Emily Bray and Hannah Leahy.
Winthrop 47, Danvers 37: Kara Connors led all Danvers (8-8) scorers with 10 points while Delaney Zecha chipped in eight points.
