Friday's area roundup: Berchoff's lay-up lifts Beverly over English at the buzzer


Governor’s 51, Pingree 32: Haley Sabino led Pingree (9-8) with eight points while Kerri Zerfoss and Hanna Stasiuk contributed six points each.

Danvers 43, Swamspcott 38: Hannah Llewellyn scored 11 points and senior Ashley Arnoldy added 10 as Danvers (9-8) jumped out to a 22-point lead in the first half. Swampscott (5-11) caught fire in the second half as Jaymie Caponigro scored a game-high 19 points and senior captain Jackie Walsh added 10, but the Falcons got enough stops in the fourth quarter to win.

Masconomet 61, Hamilton-Wenham 46: Nicole Femino scored 17 points and added eight rebounds with three steals and two assists and strong perimeter defense by Kate Kitsakos (10 points) helped Masco (15-0) hold off Hamilton-Wenham (12-4). Sam Charette scored 15 of her 17 points in the second half to help the Generals keep it close. Masco’s Hannah Kiernan scored 12 points, Meghan Collins had 12 points, Lexie Nason collected nine rebounds and freshman Steph Mini came up with four blocks. H-W’s Catherine Ecker had 12 points.

Marblehead 50, Gloucester 36: Emily Freedland put up 25 points to lead Marblehead (10-5) while Mia Bongiorno added 16 points.

Revere 39, Salem 34: The Witches lost a close one at home as they only trailed by two at halftime. Revere scored the final seven points to preserve the win. Jaclyn Panneton, Maritza Scott, Rachael Zipper and Brianna Rodriguez each had six for Salem (4-9).
