Gomes competed in just her second season for the Beverly gymnastics team, but has already made her impact known in the short time she's represented the Panthers. A sophomore this winter, the 15-year-old Beverly native led her team in scoring and guided the Panthers to their second consecutive trip the state championship.

"Heather played a huge role on the team this year as she provided upgraded and consistent routines," said head coach Lauryn Ginsburg. "She competed in the all-around in almost every meet this season with a season high score of 38.1 at the North Sectional meet this year.

In February, Gomes finished third at the state championship with a 37.375 at Algonquin High School and made her way to New Englands earlier this month. Gomes capped off the year at the New England Championship, in which she took home second place in the all-around with a 37.325. She had solid routines on all four events. She placed 6th on vault 9.4, 3rd on beam 9.45, and 6th on floor 9.2.

This particular meet featured the top two teams from New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Connecticut as well as the top six individuals from each state in each event and the all-around.
