Five locals selected for North Select All-Star basketball teams

Three boys basketball players from St. John’s Prep and one each from Beverly and Hamilton-Wenham were chosen to play for the North Select All-Star teams that will play two Boston Amateur Basketball Club (BABC) teams later this month.

Hamilton-Wenham’s Marcus Zegarowski and St. John’s Prep’s Keigan Kerby will play for the Freshmen/Sophomores team that will play the BABC Freshmen team at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, March 23 at Salem State University.

Max Burt and Kareem Davis of St. John’s Prep and Beverly’s Nick Cross will play for the Junior/Senior North Select team that will square off with the BABC Junior team, also at Salem State on March 23 (12 p.m.).

Central Catholic’s Kevin Fernandez and A.J. Pettway and Andover’s E.J. Perry will also play for the Freshmen/Sophomores. Other players on the team will be: Michael Boyd (Malden Catholic), Fru Che (Somerville), Daniel Rymer (Cambridge), Anthony Silfa (St. Mary’s Lynn), Jonathan Paulino (Methuen) and Nathan Habtom (Cambridge).

Phil Rogers of Lynn Classical and Lynn English’s Erick Rosario will join Cross, Burt and Davis on the Junior/Senior team. Central Catholic’s Nick Cambio and Tyler Nelson will also play for the Junior/Senior team, along with Asante Sandiford (New Mission), Fredens Deneus (Cambridge), Gary Clark (Everett), Dave Giribaldi (Andover) and Isaiah McLeod (Cambridge).

The games will be played as a charity event and tickets will cost $8.
