The Danvers girls basketball team recently held the team banquet Calitri’s Restaurant in Danvers. Award winners are as followed: Freshman Awards; Coaches Award: Kelly Connors, Most Improved: Holly Tobin; Junior Varsity Awards; Coaches Award: Julia McNulty, Most Improved: Rosalba Vargas; Varsity Awards; Senior Appreciation Award: Devin Johnson, Coaches Award: Allie Walsh, Most Improved: Ashley Arnoldy; Most Valuable Player: Delaney Zecha, Dave Guinivan Award: Emily McNulty.


The Beverly High School Athletic Hall of Fame will induct 11 new members on Saturday, April 5 in a ceremony at the Danversport Yacht Club. Inductees include Brian Nelson (Class of 1974, hockey and track), Richard Giunta (Class of 1980, football and lacrosse), Peter Wynne (Class of 1981, basketball), Pam Morose (Class of 1983, field hockey and softball), Derek Dionne (Class of 1989, soccer, basketball and baseball), Jessica Davidson (Class of 2003, swimming), and Emily Rinaldi (Class of 2003, gymnastics). In addition, the BHS boys track relay team of 1967, which were New England champions, will also be honored. Tickets will be available for purchase at Todd’s Sporting Goods on Cabot Street, or from Dave Jellerson, until March 29.


The Ipswich High School Athletic Hall of Fame is now accepting nominations for the Hall of Fame class of 2014. Nomination forms may be picked up in the High School Athletic office or contact Doug Woodworth at 978-356-9359. Deadline for nominations is March 31st.


The Beverly Women’s Softball League will be holding its registration on Thursday, March 27, 2014 at Modell’s Sporting Goods from 6 - 8 p.m. All Beverly women age 21 and over are welcome to join the league. Veteran Danvers High baseball coach Roger Day is giving private baseball lessons for pitching, hitting and fielding. If interested, please contact Day at 978-771-1825.


Registration for Danvers Babe Ruth in the Prep (13-year-old) and Major (14-15) divisions runs through April 11. The fee is $140, and the divisions begin in late April and run through the end of June. The Senior Division, for players ages 16-19, has a signup deadline of May 11. Fee is $160, and there will be competitive tryouts for this one team, which begins play June 1 and concludes in mid-August. There will also be an Lou Thompkins summer team for the first time, with games being played from mid-June through the end of August and travelling throughout Eastern Mass. to play.
