Thursday's area roundup: Salem State baseball knocks off Rhode Island College

Salem State 4, Rhode Island College 3: The Vikings (5-7) held a 12-3 hit advantage, but were locked in a tie game until Richard Fecteau’s sacrifice fly in the seventh inning scored Andrew Deloury for the game-winning run.

Fecteau was 1-for-3 with two runs scored and a RBI while teammate Ryan Beliveau was 3-for-4 offensively. Matt Burgess and Brett Cahill both went 2-for-4 with a RBI for the hosts. Pete Gonski got the win, going 4 2/3 innings in relief while giving up no runs on two hits and fanning four.

Romapo 7, Endicott 5: Harry Oringer was 2-for-3 with a run scored and a RBI as Endicott fell to 2-2 on the season. Brett Homgren added a triple and two RBI for the Gulls.


Endicott takes 2 of 3: The Gulls (5-2) fell, 9-1, to Amherst but defeated Plymouth State, 9-6, and Southern Maine, 4-0, down in Florida.

Meg Donegan went the distance against Southern Maine to grab her first win of the season while Alex Moise was 2-for-3 with a RBI and a run scored. Nell O’Connor improved to 3-0 with a complete game effort against Plymouth State in a game that saw teammate Rachel Couto go 2-for-3 with three RBI and two runs scored, including a pair of home runs.


MIT 12, Gordon 9: Jake Martin scored four goals and totaled 10 shots for Gordon (3-4). Peter Kovacevic picked up a team-high six groundballs while going 12 of 21 on faceoffs.


Endicott 3, Regis 1: The Gulls improved to 7-1 in league matches and 11-8 overall after taking a decisive 24-26, 25-14, 25-14, 25-14 victory. John Osborne had 15 kills and Brennan Lowe added a dozen. Libero Aaron Jessee finished with 11 digs as well while setter Tyler Bacon had 46 assists.
