2013-14 Salem News Swimming all-stars



Masconomet, Freshman

Freshman had an outstanding season for the Chieftains ... Qualified for states in four events, including two relays ... Took seventh in the 100 backstroke in 59.85 at states, and also competed in the 100 free ... Placed fourth in the 100 backstroke at the Division 2 North sectionals in 59.36.


St. John’s Prep, Senior

Had an excellent senior season, being named Catholic Conference co-MVP ... Also named Catholic Conference All-Star ... Was the runner-up at the Division 1 states in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 58.96 ... Took fifth in the 200 IM at states with a time of 1:57.67 ... Won the 100 breast at the Catholic Conference Meet ... Also a member of two winning relay teams (200 medley, 200 free) at the Catholic Conference Meet ... National Honor Society student with a 3.9 Grade Point Average, Parsons will continue swimming at Springfield College.


Hamilton-Wenham, Sophomore

Cape Ann League girls Swimmer of the Year finished sixth in the 100 fly at the state championship with a time of 1:01.4 ... Swam best times of 1:01 in the 100 fly, 2:01 in the 200 free, 2:16 in the 200-IM and 5:36 in the 500 free ... Also swam a leg of the state qualifying 400 free relay ... Finished seventh in the 200 free at North sectionals ... Qualified for states in the 200 free as well ... Considers H-W coach Kristin Murray and Sharks coaches John Ogden and Chris Morgan her biggest influences.


Marblehead, Freshman

Young swimmer made an early impact for the Magicians ... A member of the 200 Medlay and 400 free relay teams that won a state championship ... Took third in the 100 breaststroke and fourth in the 200 IM at sectionals ... Placed fifth in both the 100 breast and 200 IM at states.


Marblehead, Junior

The Northeastern Conference record holder in the 100 backstroke, which he set when he placed sixth at states with a time of 54.53 ... Placed fifth in the 200 IM and sixth in the 100 butterfly at sectionals ... Also placed fifth in states in the 200 IM in 1:58.04 ... Named NEC All-Star.
