Thursday's area roundup: Endicott women's lacrosse tops University of New England

Endicott 14, University of New England 9: Commonwealth Coast Conference Rookie of the Week and Endicott freshman Meghan Lennon tallied four goals and two assists to move the Gulls to 6-1 overall (2-0 in CCC play). Callie Murphy (two assists) and Emily Whitney (one assist) also added three goals each.

Ellie Clayman finished with a pair of scores and an assist, while Kirsten Thor and Katie Tierney contributed with a goal a piece. Senior goalkeeper Ryan Socolow was solid between the pipes earning 10 saves.


Salem State 4, Wheaton 3: The Vikings got back in the win column to improve to 7-9 overall on the year. They’re back in action today at home against Suffolk.


Salem State drops two: The Vikings lost both games of yesterday’s doubleheader to Plymouth State, 13-1 and 7-5. In the first game center fielder Michelle Flower was the only Salem State player with more than one hit. Lauren Haberern pitched in relief and struck out three batters. In game two, the Vikings scored four runs in the third inning to take a 5-2 lead, but Plymouth State scored four unanswered runs in the seventh. Former Peabody High player Jess Raymond had three hits in the loss.


Endicott 9, Salem State 0: The Gulls swept the Vikings in yesterday’s non-conference matchup. Endicott improves to 4-2, while Salem State (0-3) is still searching for its first win.


Endicott 3, Southern Vermont 1: Brennan Lowe recorded a team-high kills as the Gulls topped Southern Vermont (25-16, 26-24,19-25, 25-10) last night. Tyler Bacon finished with 46 assists and 15 digs, John Osborne added 10 kills and three service aces.
