---- — Former Danvers High captain Chrissy Gikas took home Rookie of the Week honors last week for role in Endicott’s impressive start to the spring season down in Florida.
A master at bunting and has exceptional speed on the bases, Gikas has transitioned nicely from high school softball to college ball. Last season Gikias carried a .500 batting average and .580 on-base percentage for the Falcons and has been putting up similar numbers so far this season for the Gulls.
Gikas made an appearance in seven of the games down in Florida. She’s tallied six hits, five RBI, scored four runs and currently holds a .429 batting average and .500 slugging percentage.
The Gulls (6-2) were off from game action this week, but return to the diamond tomorrow when they travel to Curry for a doubleheader in their first Commonwealth Coast Conference game of the season.
