Friday's Area Roundup: Fenwick girls lax tops Archbishop Williams

Bishop Fenwick 16, Archbishop Williams 11: The Crusaders even out their record at 2-2 as senior Grace Celona score seven goals in the victory. Anna Moutlton had four goals, while Annette Ruggiero and Lexie Rose had a pair of scores. Katie Hart played well defensively and Nicole Votta was strong in goal.

Manchester-Essex 19, Georgetown 9: Junior Taylor Meek netted five goals and three assists to help the Hornets to their second win of the season. Carolyn Heslop also contributed with four goals and one helper.


Bedford 13, Swampscott 0: The Big Blue dropped the opening game of the season and is looking to bounce back in their next game.

Georgetown 5, North Shore Tech/Essex Aggie 2: Seniors Tim Andersen and Chris Swiniuch each had a pair of hits, but it wasn’t enough against the reigning Division 4 champs. Andrew Gallione scored the two runs for the Bulldogs (1-1).


Methuen 7, Marblehead 1: The Magicians fell in their opener despite getting solid pitching from Michaela Leblanc. Leblanc allowed seven hits, one walk and four runs. Marblehead scored its only run when shortstop Olivia Venner singled, stole second and third, then came in on Melanie Messinger’s sacrifice.
