Weekend area roundup: Hamilton-Wenham laxmen down Norwell



SSU Sweeps: The Vikings (10-8) defeated Mass. Maritime 14-0 and then 18-7 behind a five-hit, five RBI performance from senior Lauren Garchinsky. Cara Crowley smashed four RBI in the opener while Alyssa Bryan hurled a two-hitter while fanning 10. In game two, Christina Cipriani (Peabody) and Rebecca Krigman contributed three hits each while Brittney Howe struck out three to grab her second win.

Scots Swept: Roger Williams defeated Gordon (7-12) by scores of 10-0 and 11-1 as Kara Pepper scored the Scots only run.

Gulls Grab Four: Endicott (4-10) left its early season struggles in the rear view mirror, winning four straight to begin league play 4-0. The Gulls beat Eastern Nazarene, 10-8 and 8-4 on Saturday then swept UNE 8-0 and 10-8 Sunday. Sam DiBella of Danvershad three RBI yesterday for Endicott and Ipswich’s Kelley Michael knocked in four.


Vikes Broom: Salem State came from behind to down Mass. Maritime 5-3 after blanking the Colonials 3-0 in the first game to improve to 10-9 and a perfect 4-0 in MASCAC play. Senior Kevin Salines had three of the Vikings seven hits to go with three RBI in the 5-3 win while Andrew Guido came out of the bullpen to get the win. Genaro Ciulla (Peabody) had a two-out RBI single as part of a three-run, fourth inning in game one while junior Ryan Hyjek tossed a complete-game two-hit shutout and with 10 strikeouts.

Gordon loses two: Roger Williams defeated Gordon 4-0 and 4-0 again on Saturday to fell to 12-7 overall. Stephen Crawford and Eric Walker had two hits apiece in game two while no Scott had more than a hit in the opener.

Endicott wins Three: The Gulls swept a doubleheader with Eastern Nazarene, 16-7 and 14-2 Saturday, then split with Western New England 6-0 and 6-4 to move to 13-9 on the season. Tyler Hitchcock threw a 2-hitter in Endicott’s win yesterday and Robbie Goldstick collected three RBI.
