Thursday's area roundup: Salem laxmen top Winthrop

Marblehead 11, Swampscott 2: Marblehead (2-3) was led by Harrison Yuong (three goals, one assist), Ian Maag (two goals, one assist) and Brooks Tyrrell (two goals, one assist). Keeper Nathan Maselek had seven saves.

St. John’s Prep 10, B.C. High 7: SJP (3-1) scored a big road win as Jack Sharrio tallied four goals and two assists and Ben Alpern contributed a hat trick.

masco 14, lynnfield 2: Cam Jung led the offense with for goals as the Chieftains evened out 2-2. Henry Behrens, Max Craig and Nick Pease each had single scores in the game.

GIRLS LACROSSE

Marblehead 12, Wilmington 8: Kiley Fischer finished with four goals and one assists to lead the Magicians (5-1) to their fifth straight win. Meggie Collins and Tyler Phillips each recorded a hat trick, while Pam Gregory and Cassie Rodgers added a goal a piece. Allie Forman turned away 10 shots in the victory.

BASEBALL

Bishop Fenwick 4, Central Catholic 3 (9 innings): Brian Burke singled to left scoring Nick Bona with one out in the bottom of the ninth as Fenwick improved to 2-1. Burke also got the win pitching the final three innings without allowing a hit while fanning five. Bona and Jhon Oliviera both were 3 for 5 at the plate.

Beverly 6, Revere 1: Cam Rogers hurled a complete game, two-hitter striking out eight for Beverly (2-1). Alex Toomey had two hits and two RBI while Rogers and Anthony DiOrio contributed a RBI each. The Panthers played solid defense all game behind Rogers.

St. John’s Prep 2, SJS 1: Brandon Bingel threw a gem for SJP (4-1) striking out 11 while walking just one in the complete game effort. Matt Cabral doubled in the second inning and scored on a grounder by Tommy Buonapane but Shrewsbury tied things up before Nick Bragole singled to score Tyler Noe in the sixth. Noe had been hit by a pitch and then stole second base. Max Burt made a couple outstanding plays at shortstop.
