Masconomet 5, Newburyport 3: The Chieftains (2-1) got their first league win of the season behind a strong performance from Joe Klingensmith, who got the save through two scoreless innings and had a RBI double. Speros Varinos finished with three hits, two runs and two stolen base, while getting the win on the mound.
Lynnfield 6, Ipswich 2: Senior Kyle Barber had two hits on the day for the Tigers (0-2), while freshman Jake Long knocked in a run off a single.
Georgetown 8, ME 0: The Hornets dropped to 0-1.
North Shore Tech/Essex Aggie 8, Mystic Valley 2: Kaera Wyse went the distance, with 12 strikeouts and allowed just one hit. Offensively, Rhiannon Lane and Katelyn Gerrien each had two hits and two RBI, while Kourtney Kellard finished with two hits and three RBI for the Bulldogs (2-0).
Manchester essex 7, Ipswich 3: Senior captain Emily Sadoway had a 3-1 lead going into the top of the seventh, but the Tigers ultimately fell in their season opener. Meredith Kercher went 2-for-4 and Sadoway added a two-run single. Manchester Essex saw strong pitching from freshman Amanda Loebelenz.
Newburyport 4, Masconomet 1: The Chieftains opened their season with a loss on the road, but return to the field on Wednesday at home against Triton.
Masco 5, Rockport 0: Masco (2-2) moved to .500 as Danielle Dunn (6-0, 6-0), Lexi Palumbo (6-2, 6-1) and Eva Reineke (6-1, 6-2) dominated the singles matches while Claudia Marsh/Emily Miller (6-1, 6-1) and Samantha Moynahan/Alexa Ina (6-0, 6-0) cruised in doubles play.
Salem 5, Revere 0: Third singles Guthrie Scrimgeour (3-6, 6-2, 6-1) and first doubles Evan Le/Cole Jermyn (4-6, 6-4, 6-2) scored come-from-behind wins to help Salem (3-1) sweep Revere. Tahmid Raji (6-4, 6-1) and Aidan Scrimgeour (6-2, 6-2) won at first and second singles respectively while Alex Carvajal/Josh Lausier (6-2, 6-1) captured second singles.
St. John’s Prep 5, Newton North 0: Chris Toner (6-1, 6-2), Nico Limacher (6-4, 7-5) and Dan Cunningham (6-4, 4-6, 6-0) swept the singles matches for SJP (4-0) while Ian Wright/Alec McNiff (2-6, 7-5, 6-2) and Jon Shaffer/Sean Nork (6-2, 6-4) won the doubles matches.
