SSU's Lampson earns All-NE nod

Kreider, O'Neill among Divison 1 selections

The best news for Salem State regarding All-New England selection Nick Lampson?

He'll be back next year.

The Vikings' junior earned a spot on the 2011-12 New England Hockey Writers' Division 2/3 All-Star team, tabulated with votes from coaches and media outlets around the region and released earlier this week.

A native of Groton, Lampson was a first-team All-MASCAC selection while leading Salem State in scoring with 19 goals and 37 points. His 16 goals, 14 assists and 30 points in 20 conference games made him the most productive offensive player in MASCAC action this year and he was tied for 18th nationally in total scoring for Division 3.

Lampson's honor marks the second consecutive season in which Salem State has had an All-New England pick with graduating senior Giancarlo Capodanno was selected last year.

Also, in the men's Division 1 selections, Boxford's Chris Kreider of Boston College and Salem's Will O'Neill of Maine were honored with All-New England nods. Kreider and the Eagles play in next week's Frozen Four national semi-finals against Minnesota, while O'Neill, who graduated with 101 career points as a Black Bear, made his professional debut with the AHL' St. John's Ice Caps last night.
