Marblehead (3-0) at Swampscott (1-2), tomorrow at 12 p.m.: These two neighboring rivals will engage in a rare September meeting, the first of two head-to-head contests (the other on Thanksgiving) this season. Swampscott showed tremendous improvement last week with a 28-14 win over Winthrop. The Big Blue got a big boost from Desmond Wilhelmsen’s debut as the back ran for 199 yards and two touchdowns. Still, Swampscott is surrendering an average of 37 points per game through three games while Marblehead has scored over 40 points in each of its three wins.
Everett (1-1) at St. john’s Prep (2-1), tomorrow at 1:30 p.m.: The Eagles haven’t tasted victory against Everett since 2008 and they’d love to get one here in front of their home crowd. Senior running back Johnny Thomas is off to a ridiculous start with 664 yards rushing and seven TDs so far. He also added a highlight-reel, 107-yard interception return for a touchdown to his resume last week against Central Catholic. Watching Everett deal with Thomas isn’t just worth the price of admission, it’s the biggest bargain you’ll find this weekend.
