Thursday's area roundup: Salem edges Marblehead in volleyball



Blackstone Valley 4, North Shore Tech/Essex Aggie 1: Sophomore Sarah Powers scored on a pass from Lindsey McGovern with five minutes left in the game, but that was the only offense the Bulldogs (4-2-1) could muster. Sophomore Stefany Campbell played well defensively, as did Shauna Dempsey.

Prospect Hill 5, Salem Academy 1: Hannah Magee scored an unassisted goal, but it wasn’t enough as Salem Academy (3-1-1) dropped its first game of the season. Katie Darmody made 12 saves in net.

Beverly 6, Gloucester 0: Caitlin Harty scored four goals and Eva Gourdeau chipped in with two goals and two assists as the Panthers moved to 6-1-2. Kasey Cook and Brandy Duzz each had assists while Diandra Crowley played well.


Salem Academy 2, Prospect Hill 2: Sal Martinez and Madiyar Tatimbekov each scored goals for Salem Academy (2-2-1) and Ben Craven added an assist while Brian Rodriguez made 13 saves.


MIT 4, Endicott 2: Despite a pair of goals from Emily Sawchuck, the Gulls (5-4) dropped a non-conference game at home last night.
