Weekend area roundup: Marblehead, Peabody shine at Bay State; H-W strong at Ocean State

Gordon 1, Eastern Nazarene 0: Stephanie Bouillon scored four minutes into the contest, which proved to be the game-winner after a tremendous defensive effort by the Scots (9-1). Kendra Woudenberg and Kaitlyn Hawn were credited with the assists and McKenzie Dion made six saves in goal.

COLLEGE FIELD HOCKEY

Salem State 3, Worcester State 2: Beverly’s Katie Pietrini scored twice, including the game-winner in double-overtime, to lead the Vikings to their fifth straight victory. Lauren Pazdziorny (Middleton) tied that game 2-2 on her on her ninth goal of the year off an assist from captain Stephanie Morrison (Beverly).

Gordon 3, Endicott 0: Courtney Scott scored twice to lift host Gordon (8-2-1) past the Gulls (5-5) for the first time since 2007. Brittany Hawkins scored five minutes into the game off an assist from Scott as the Scots did all of their scoring in the first half. Endicott keeper Lizetta Solarik made 11 saves in the loss.

WOMEN’S COLLEGE TENNIS

Salem State 6, Southern Maine 3: Lauren Woods, Tara Garvey, Emily Yanchus and Hillary Gustafson won singles points to help Salem State pick up its first Little East Conference win of the season.
