Monday's area roundup: Salem golf squad takes down Revere


Manchester Essex 2, Pentucket 0: The unbeaten Hornets (9-0-1) got a goal in each half, as Rachael Gallagher and Paige Zaval provided the goals. Brittany Smith and Taylor Meek earned assists and junior defender Natasha Statz-Geary had a strong game.


Bishop Fenwick 0, Cardinal Spellman 0: The Crusaders had a slight 7-6 edge in shots on goal and battled to a scoreless draw against their Catholic Central League rivals. Rashad Da Silva, Greg Enos and Alex Baker had strong all-around games for Fenwick (4-5-3) while keeper Ryan Trott made six saves.

St. Mary’s 3, Arlington Catholic 0: Salem native Helio Neto made eight saves to pick up his third shutout as the Spartans moved to 6-1-2. Salem’s Noah Camelo had a goal while Dan Montoya scored twice and Kevin Esper collected three assists.

Assabet Valley 7, North Shore Tech/Essex Aggie 1: Bobby Smith set up Dylan Petit for North Shore’s only goal. Mark Mishel stood out in the midfield for North Shore, which dropped to 0-9.


Cardinal Spellman 3, Bishop Fenwick 1: Annette Ruggiero scored midway through the second half to cut Spellman’s lead to 3-1, but that was as close as the Crusaders could get. Abbey Rocker assisted on Ruggiero’s tally while Jenny Nasser and Ellen Fantozzi stood out on defense for Fenwick (4-4-1).


Peabody 3, Danvers 0: Naddie Mahoney served 12 straight points and had two aces to help the Tanners (9-0) stay perfect on the season at 25-16, 25-7, 25-12. Katie Gallo had eight service points and three aces while Olivia Summitt had seven kills and Carolyn Scacchi picked up 13 digs with five kills and a pair of blocks.

Swampscott 3, Marblehead 1: The Big Blue (5-4) defeated their NEC rivals, 25-21, 25-18, 9-25, 25-17. Gina Asipenko had 13 kills and five aces, Louisy Cim contributed four kills and three aces, and Becky Vulihk pitched in with two kills and four aces for Swampscott. Setter Faye Liakopoulos also stood out for the Big Blue with 23 assists.Lindsay Simmons (6 kills), Hannah Cohen (5 digs) and Isabel Marcey (12 assists) played well for the Magicians (2-7).
