---- — For both their outstanding achievements in the classroom as well as in their respective athletic endeavors, volleyball star Kate Lipka of Bishop Fenwick High School and Ben Manoogian, a standout on the Peabody boys soccer team, have been chosen as the Moynihan Lumber Student-Athletes of the Month for September.

The reigning Salem News Volleyball Player of the Year, Lipka is currently ranked No. 1 in the state in kills per set, one of the most important offensive stats in the sport. She has already recorded more than 100 kills for the Crusaders, one of the state’s top ranked teams, and her hitting percentage of better than 56 percent is off the charts. A two-year captain, she has also been on the honor roll every quarter of her high school career and currently sports a 3.5 grade point average.

Manoogian had game winning goals against Lynn English and Salem and scored five times and adding three assists in Peabody’s first five contests on the pitch this fall. Manoogian is a member of the Student Council at Peabody High and Peer Mediator group. This well-rounded student is also a member of the Healthy Collaborative at his high school and ranks 15th in his senior class with a 3.8 GPA.
